Online Degrees - Style Tips - Cont.
If you are a visual/nonverbal learner, make diagrams and symbols within your notes. For mathematics, make charts or series of symbols. If your instructor or online degree program tends to display the information in written form, take the time to translate it into your own pictures or symbols.
If you are an auditory/verbal learner, organize a study group to review information. You will do well in discussing the topics with others. When you are alone, read your notes and text out loud. Tape-record your lectures. If you're taking an online course, check to see if an audio or CD version is available.
And if you are a tactile/kinesthetic learner, always sit near the front of the room to keep yourself more engaged. When you study, walk back and forth and talk out loud. Transfer your notes to a computer or chalkboard; this action will keep you busy while you learn. Make flashcards to review. Tape-record the lecture and listen to it as you exercise.
